If you are starting out with a Catalog Consultant / Corgi Kit or you do not make $50 in sales at a party:
If you have multiple orders that equal to $50 or more in a week (from several parties or Catalog sales to family and friends), those sales added together will be allowed to earn a commission. Our week runs Sun.-Sat.
You will submit your orders as you get them to ensure that your customers get their order in a timely manner.
We will then add up your total sales on Sat. each week and if you have met the $50-$99 sales minimum, you will receive a $20 credit code to purchase items from either our catalog or from our website.
Since you do not know if you will have $100 or more in sales for the week, you will not be able to take your commission upfront as you would for a party. But to ensure your orders do get processed in a timely manner, you will place the orders as you get them but not take your commission out, at the end of the week, we will total up your sales and issue you a check that will be mailed to you to arrive by the next to 3rd business day.
For example: if you had a total of $300 in sales from Sun. to Sat., you would place the orders as you get them and pay the entire amount due. Q. How do I make earnings from being a Independent PPG Paw Party Consultant?
As with most party plan businesses, you are rewarded depending on the sales you make. You, as the Consultant, place your order for goods sold, and then you place the orders for the amount less your Consultant commissions - the money you make is the difference between the selling price and the Consultant price. As with any new business venture, we highly recommend that you consider taking advice from an independent financial advisor with regards to you own tax and/or financial situation.

Yes - there are various level options available regarding becoming a Consultant. Catalog Consultant: Our most basic option, this allows you to sell via the catalog. This option is best suited for those who want to purchase products for their own pets and to sell to friends, family and neighbors. Full Consultant: This option is for those wishing to sell via all options, including catalog and in home parties and to have all the benefits of a full Consultant. This option offers the best potential for earnings. Within the range of Full Consultant, there are three different start kits available:

Q. I have never sold anything before! Will I be able to do this?
Well, if you love animals, enjoy being social and you are happy and excited about our range, then you are well on your way to having all the skills that you need! We will provide you with a detailed guide to everything you need to know about hosting a party, full of tips, hints and information. We do recommend you have some computer skills and are able to manage some paperwork.
Q. Do I need any particular tools or equipment?
Most of the tools and equipment you will require are things you already use on a daily basis. The essential are: your own transport to get to and from your parties and to transport your sales kit. A computer for doing your ordering and accessing the information on the site you are on now and a mobile telephone so that customers and bookings can contact you. A diary is necessary for keeping your bookings and business in order and a small home office space in your home would be useful. The most essential tool is to have a genuine love of animals and a real desire to help their people find the perfect products for them.
Q. What Happens at a Paw Party?
On the party day/night, you will set up the display of products available for your guests, ready for the presentation. Once your party has started, introductions will be made and you should thank your guests for coming. You should play some party games in order to break the ice and ensure your guests are fully entertained! Prizes of your choice should be awarded to the winners of the games if you choose. Following that, you will give a presentation and demonstration of the various products, which will include the features and benefits they provide. At the conclusion of the demonstration, you will take your guests orders and payments.If someone wants to purchase later, you can take their order and get payment at a date of your choosing, just let them know the order can not be shipped until payment is received in full.

There are NO inventory requirements. All products will be delivered to the hostess for distribution or you may drop ship the orders and we will ship them directly to your customers. However, some impulse buyers love to buy right then, so it is good to have your most sold items on hand to display and sell.
Q. I am a distributor of another Company. Can I sell PPG Paw Parties products?
You may work for any other company and still distribute the PPG Paw Parties product line as long as the business lines do not compete, and the integrity of PPG Paw Parties product line is not compromised.

While small children can make a wonderful addition to your celebration, you will need to ask yourself how many children you can handle. You may also want to observe the children around dogs before extending an invitation, as some younger kids can either be too rough with them or even be frightened by the doggie guests.

Some people love this aspect of running a business, others don't, but the fact remains that until and unless other people a) know what you do and b) believe you can do it well, they're not going to send any business (money!) your way. So it's absolutely essential to master at least the basic aspects of marketing a business.
How you choose to market depends on several factors. To begin with, there are only three "currencies" you can choose from to spend - time, energy, and money - and spending more of one usually means spending less of another.
For example, if you do door-to-door canvassing to pass out flyers for your new pet business, that's going to cost less than hiring someone to do it for you, but it's going to require more time and effort.
Conversely, if you have the money to hire someone to do the canvassing for you, it'll get done faster and with less physical effort on your part.
So... which "currency" is most available to you? Time, energy, or money?
One of the best initial marketing strategies you can utilize is to study how your local competitors promote THEIR businesses. Who are they targeting? How are they getting the word out? How often do they promote themselves? Where are their ads?
Your goal is simply to do it better!
Look for the best possible combination of effectiveness and price. Odds are that you don't need fancy brochures or mugs with your logo on them - at least not right away.
What you DO need are business cards - not generic, black-on-white cards that make you look cheap and like some fly-by-night operator, but quality cards that describe what you do and who you do it for. (Seriously, you can do a GREAT job marketing your business with business cards alone, if you learn these strategies.)
Post flyers, advertisements and special offers on community bulletin boards. These areas usually receive high visibility and may win some new sales.
Encourage customers to spread the word about your business by handing out bumper stickers with your name and phone number on them.
Consistently hand your business card to 3-4 people who are not your customers every single day. You can encourage people to visit your store by writing a special offer or discount on the back of your card.
Marketing does not always have to be expensive or complicated, It just requires consistency and a willingness to take action. You can generate spectacular results, armed with a few creative concepts and an iron will to succeed.
The other two offline marketing products that you will most likely find useful right away are flyers (not brochures) and some sort of vehicle advertising.
By flyers I don't mean expensive folding brochures - I mean inexpensive printed pages you can leave at homes, post on bulletin boards at grocery stores or community centers, and so on. These flyers should make it clear who you are, what you do, and how to contact you. Additionally, offer reassurance such as "Licensed, Bonded, Insured" (if that's appropriate), or mention testimonials, or show before-and-after photos.
And as you drive your vehicle around town, why not promote your pet business that way, too? A rolling billboard! You can buy magnetic signs, but another great alternative is a stick-on decal that can be moved from car to car, if necessary. You can put in on your windshield, too... or why not a bumper sticker?
Obtaining new clients used to make me feel as if I was searching for a needle in a haystack. But as soon as I decided to step out there to be seen and heard, the phone was soon ringing off the hook! And it can be the same for you too! Here are some tips I learned over the years building up and serving my clients; see if they can work for you.
Spread the Word Around Town. When you're working with customers or speaking to friends and neighbors, let them know you're looking for new clients. When you're done with a job or simply shooting the breeze with customers and friends, ask them if they know of anyone who could use your services or products. And don't be afraid to hand out those handy dandy biz cards. (carry them with you at all times!) You never know where those little guys end up and it could mean more referrals for you!
Provide Strong Customer Service. If you're good at what you do, are pleasant to work with, and satisfy your customers, they'll most likely refer you to others on their own. Remember, only satisfied customers give referrals. Be sure to implement a customer priority attitude with your business and treat current customers like royalty. If you keep a consistent service record with your customers, your reputation will precede you and you'll get more referrals with less advertising/marketing efforts since word-of-mouth recommendations are free and can spread like wildfire.
Put a Carrot at the End of the Stick. Even if you're doing a super job and are giving your customers the best service in town, it still wouldn't hurt to give them a little motivation for referring customers to you. Consider giving customers future discounts on services or products for every referral they get for you. You could send a quick note to your current customers announcing your new referral program. Just be sure you follow up on your promises and devise a quick way to note who sent who to you and give the discounts accordingly.
Another incentive idea that kills two birds with one stone is to give a specialty advertising gift to anyone who gives you some good leads and referrals. Mugs, pens, and T-shirts with your logo, biz name, and phone number on them not only please and delight the customers, they will wear or use these products out and about town and your name gets out there twice over! What other ways can you entice and motivate your customers for referrals?
Meet and Mingle. Another great way to get referrals is to meet, greet, and shake hands with "Joe Public," just like those gotta-love-'em politicians. Become active in your local chamber of commerce and other local business and charitable organizations. Likewise, join associations and business clubs where you can schmooze with prospective clients. And if you're game, don't turn down opportunities to speak at various functions. Community groups and associations are always looking for experts to address and inform their members on the newest trends, technologies, and must-have services.
Cold Calling. Why not try some old fashioned cold calling? Well, I know, this may not sound like fun, but it just may get you some valuable new clients. I know of a very successful
ad agency executive, who initially started his business from his Manhattan apartment, and got his BIG break from cold calling. He landed some major accounts this way and these days, his company is competing with other heavy hitters on Madison Avenue. This small, but successful agency has several major accounts now, both locally and nationally, and a new partner! Forty employees later, he's no longer working out of his apartment. So consider using the phone as a way to refer yourself to new customers.
The main thing to remember when trying to build a customer referral program is to get out there and put your best foot forward. Schmooze, brag, hand out biz cards, pick up the phone -- just get yourself noticed.Once folks know about you, your list of clients will increase.

When you first go up and meet a person, Never Ever start talking about yourself. People will pay attention for a few seconds and then start looking for any excuse to leave. You don't need that. If that happens more than once, you'll feel like exiting the building yourself. We all know that isn't going to help the future growth of your business.
Here's my secret to schmoozing and getting and keeping people's attention . . . Are you listening?
Schmoozing Tip #2
During the first part of the conversation, only talk about the other person. Ask them what they do, how their business is doing, what do they do to find customers. Ask the kind of questions you are uncertain about with your business. This is a smart schmooze move for a couple of reasons.
First, by asking someone else for their know-how and experience, you never know when you might receive a "pearl" of wonderful advice in return. So listen carefully to what your new-found friend is saying. Don't just pretend you're listening. Look into their eyes, not around the room while they talk.
The other reason to use this schmoozing strategy? Hey, it's flattering when others want to hear about your ideas and business. Many people do enjoy talking about themselves, and encouraging them with questions and interested ears will keep them talking with you. Not many people walk away from a conversation where they are playing the leading role!
Once you've showed this interest in your new acquaintance, soon enough, you'll most likely be asked about your business and what you do. Bingo!
Schmoozing Tip #3
Now, don't freeze at this point. Practice what you 're going to say. Rehearse in front of your spouse, friend, or Mirror. Make it interesting. Give the person a good reason to listen. Be funny, interesting, entertaining -- do whatever you feel is appropriate to keep the person's attention. Make your answers short and sweet. End with a quick exchange of business cards -- you never know when you might need that person's service or you may know someone you can refer to them and vice versa.
So, Schmoozing 101's bottom line: Spend a little time with each new prospect. Listen. Learn. Then end with your short spiel. Soon, you'll have a whole room who can't wait to talk to you, and you won't mind!
The first ingredient of savvy, low-cost self-promotion is a news release. A well-written release can get you lots of free publicity via the local newspaper, radio, or television station. Start whipping up a 2 to 3 page news release that announces the opening of your business or other newsworthy events. Describe in detail what's happening and when, where and why, the services you offer, the benefits of using your company, and your background and experience. Include customer quotes if possible as well as quotes from yourself.
Don't be afraid to include too much; newspapers will cut anything they don't want. And often smaller, weekly papers will print your release word-for-word. Be sure to include a photograph of yourself or business, if applicable. Then send the news release to all newspapers and business magazines in your target area. Radio and television stations use releases for potential story ideas and can call you up for a potential interview! So don't forget to have a contact name on the release too!
Meat and Greet
Wining and dining your way into crowded banquets, luncheons, or meetings is a great way to fatten up your biz image and not cost you a lot of money. This sort of networking is a surefire way to spice up your biz. To be an effective networker, though, be sure you're rubbing elbows with your target market. You want to be passing the salt and pepper to those who could really use your secretarial services. This may include a membership in several business and professional societies, or volunteering for the board or committees of a nonprofit organization.
For your secretarial business, which markets to other businesses, one of the best places to begin is your local Chamber of Commerce. A year's membership at the Chamber is worth the investment, as you can take advantage of a great menu of networking opportunities:
Morning or after-work business (social) exchanges
Chamber committees
Access to membership listings and mailing labels
Business-to-business trades shows
Recognition opportunities
Free or low-cost educational offerings
And, and of course, the ever-popular chamber meetings with food!
Just dig right in -- there's more where that came from for sure! And remember to always have your trusty biz cards on hand. You'll definitely get your money's worth out of membership, as well as some new customers!
The Fixin's for Direct Mail
Another effective marketing tool that can be done cost-consciously is direct mail. The best recipe for success here is a targeted list. So start by developing a database of potential customers you'd like to work with. Use the phone book, newspaper, and your Chamber of Commerce directory to get names and addresses. It doesn't have to be a large list, but one that targets businesses you think may need your services.
Now it's time to cook up a marketing piece to send to these individuals. This could be done in one of several formats:
Post cards -- Post cards are very effective and successful as direct mail pieces. They're effective because customers don't have to open up an envelope and are more likely to read them. They're cost-effective because you get a reduced postage rate (if you keep the size at 4 "x 6" or less). The downside is that because of the size, you're limited in the amount of information to include. If you have a lot to say, you may want to look at a standard mailing.
Standard mailing -- This mailing usually includes a letter introducing yourself or your offer and possibly a flyer or brochure that stresses the points you want to emphasize. It can be very effective, especially when you include both the letter and brochure/flyer. However, the cost of doing this type of mailing is more expensive than a post card.
Newsletters-- Newsletters are one of the most-read direct mail pieces because they're informational in nature. A newsletter's a great chance to show off your knowledge and position you as an expert in your field. For example, for your secretarial business, you could include tips on telephone etiquette, staying organized, or writing effective letters. You could also have customer spotlights or a "service of the month" feature. Best of all, a newsletter doesn't have to be long or fancy. A one page, two-sided self-mailer can be very effective. (See the Coffee Talk with Experts archive for more on newsletter writing, I just recently wrote an answer to a biz owner who wanted to start up a newsletter for customers.)
Whatever type of direct mail piece you choose, follow up the mailing with a phone call to all recipients about one week after sending it out. Many people don't like doing this type of "cold call," however, it's a very effective way to increase sales. You don't have to be "salesy;" simply state that you'd sent out a mailing about such and such and was wondering if the person had received it. Once you start making these follow-up calls, you'll find it's really quite easy to do, and you'll be amazed at the positive response.
Here are some ideas on how you can calmly convert objections into sales.
"This sounds great but can the evryday pet owner afford it?I love my pets but as much as I would like I dont have money to burn, My pets get very good food and I try to buy them toys and things they will like but it,s not easy.
I have a lot of friends that would buy these products if they were reasonable in price
As a matter of fact I would love to sell these products if I didnt feel guilty about selling things to pet owners at prices I know they could not afford."
Reply:
"I understand where you are coming from. The economy certainly has many people "tightening their belts". I approach my parties as the opportunity to pass valuable information to pet owners. At the end of the party I hand out catalogs and order forms, but I make sure to state that there is no expectation for an order. If I can teach someone something about their companion animal that they didn't know, then I have been successful.
Also...adults are coming to my parties and I rely on them to make decisions regarding their finances. I can't control if someone decides to spend money they don't have!"
Your product costs too much?
Haven't we all heard that objection before! But be happy that your prospect was up front with you about their objection. Otherwise, you would have just heard "I have to think it over" leaving you with no idea why your prospect would not buy your product today. We'll discuss how to handle the "I have to think it over" objection later. Whenever your prospect tells you "it costs too much", try this dialog.
Shelli: "Mary, I really like your lipstick, but isn't the price kinda high?"
Mary: "Today, most things seem high priced. Can you tell me about how much too high you think the price is?"
Shelli: "Well, my old brand sells for $3, yours is $4."
Mary: "Shelli, what we're really talking is $1, isn't that right?"
Shelli: "Yes, that's right."
Mary: "Shelli, do you think it would be safe to assume that you'd be happy with this product, am I right?"
Shelli: "Oh, yes, I know I'd be happy with it. I love this lipstick and that it's made of all natural products!"
Mary: "On average, how long does a tube of lipstick last you?"
Shelli: "Oh, on average about 3 weeks."
Mary: "OK, Shelli, so over a three week period, your added investment in this tube of lipstick will be 33 cents per week, correct?"
Shelli: "Yes, that's correct."
Mary: "And in that three weeks, you'll be using the lipstick for 15 days. correct? So over a 15 day period, your additional investment to use this all-natural product will be less than 7 cents a day."
Shelli: "Yea, that sounds right."
Mary: "Mary, do you ever buy mints?"
Shelli: "Yea, all the time."
Mary: "Do you realize that by using this all-natural lipstick, which is a feature you said you liked, will cost you less than 1 mint a day from a roll of Lifesavers? Now when you look at it that way, doesn't it seem like such an insignificant amount for a product you said you would like?"
Shelli: "Yea, when you put it that way, it doesn't seem like much."
Mary: "Would you like your order to be delivered to your house, or would you prefer I deliver it to your office?"
When handling an objection, never get offensive. Also, a good salesperson will learn how to control the entire presentation with questions. Notice how Mary skillfully asked for the order. She asked whether or not to deliver the order to the house or to the office. Either answer means a sale!
I'd rather stay with my old product?
Again, you need to keep leading with questions. You need to learn to understand why your prospect likes their old product. Ask them, "What is it about your old product that you like?" or "What is it about our product that you don't like?" Once you know those answers, then you'll know what benefits the customer is looking for -- benefits you may not have even thought of bringing up.
"If I told you that our product was made in the USA, would that be pleasing to you?" That answer would be a definite YES if one of the likes about her old product is that it's made in the USA. Then continue with the line of questioning. "You said that you liked the fact that our product was all-natural, is that correct?" "And you liked the fact that we offer so many more colors, did I hear that right?" Soon, she'll be writing you a check!
I want to think it over?
This is probably the biggest brush-off that customers give. It's also frustrating as it does not give you a clue as to why your prospect isn't writing you a check today -- until now! Again, lead the discussion with questions.
Mary: "Oh, that's fine. Sure, think it over. Now.... you wouldn't be thinking it over unless you were seriously interested, right?"
Shelli: "Oh, that's right. I'm definitely interested. You have a good product."
Mary: "And you're not just saying that to get rid of me, are you?"
Shelli: "Oh, don't be ridiculous!"
Mary: "Just to unfog my thinking, what is it that you wanted to think over? Is it the reputation of my company?"
Shelli: "Oh, no, you have a fine company."
Mary: "Is it the quality of my product?" "Is it the color?" "Is it the shape of the container?"
Keep asking "is it, is it" until you've covered practically all possible objections. In 90% of the cases, the final objection will be the money. "Is it the money?" you strongly ask. If so, then page back up and reread what to do if price is the major objection. Then go for the close!
Team up with pet stores and other non-competing pet businesses in your area. Do joint advertising in a targeted, local community publication. By featuring both ads in one space, you'll cut your advertising costs in half. You can also team up with other pet businesses locally and sponsor special pet related events in your area.
Co-Market with Veterinarians.
Regardless of what pet related service you choose to offer, co-marketing with veterinary offices in your area is a recipe for success. Ask if you can place brochures in the waiting room or display a container of business cards at the counter where customers check out. This should give you lots of targeted marketing without costing a fortune.
Sponsor a Charitable Event.
Attract the attention of the community and do a good deed at the same time by sponsoring an event for charity. For example, if you do dog grooming, hold a Saturday event where all of the proceeds collected for the grooming goes to an animal rescue organization or your local SPCA. Send out a press release to local publications letting them know about the big event.
Market at the Dog Park.
If you're offer a dog related service such as training or doggy day care center, you'll want to become a regular at your local dog park. When you visit the park take along a generous stack of business cards. Mingle with dog owners while introducing your business in a low key, unobtrusive way. You can also talk to dog owners to see what additional services they would like to see offered.
Give Something Free.
Give customers an incentive to use your service by offering something free. For example, if you have a pet grooming service, offer a free photo of the freshly groomed dog for the dog owner to take home. Customers love getting something for nothing.
Use Flyers.
Go to your local library and ask the reference librarian to help research which areas of your city have the highest density of pets. Once you have this information, prepare flyers advertising your services and distribute them door to door.
1) The most common marketing mistakes made by pet business owners are a lack of planning and consistency.
2) All business owners should have a library of marketing documents available in both online and print form. The documents in your marketing library should include business cards, a brochure or website, email signature, press release template, and promotional giveaway items.
3) Your marketing budget should be flexible and change to fit with the life stage of your business and your business goals.
4) One of the best ways to network with pet owners is to find hidden pet communities such as online forums, and local pet newsletters, and to get actively involved in community pet events.
5) To get free publicity through the TV, radio, and news media you need to develop a creative “hook” that makes your business unique and newsworthy
6) When setting up your marketing plan you need to step back and examine your business objectively, determine the realistic potential your market, and determine which products and services pet owners are most likely to buy.

I formed my company in 2003 after creating these products out of love for my own dog, Bobo. In 2000, Bobo had serious eye surgery to save and restore the vision in one eye after losing her retina, and vision, in the other. The surgery was a success thanks to Dr. Vainisi at the Animal Eye Associates! The affects of the drugs they used, however, took a toll on both Bobo’s skin and fur. Her once beautiful tail had lost its fur, her skin was dry and flaky and what remained of her coat was dry and dull.
In an effort to restore the life and luster not only to Bobo’s skin and fur, but also to her pride and demeanor (which had taken a beating as well), I began my quest to find a product to help her. I bought and tried product after product. I was amazed to find that nothing on the market did as it claimed! Nothing smelled good once I was done washing her and nothing helped the specific problems I was trying to fix.
So, taking matters into my own hands, I began to read natural healing books for both pets and people and started to mix and test things in my own kitchen.
Deciding that there was a need for products like I would use on myself for our pets we love so much, I worked hand-in-hand with a chemist to make my personally owned formulas. I knew exactly how I wanted the products to look, smell, feel and work. Along with my vision and list of ingredients I wanted to use, I started a 2 ½ year process to hand pick and custom blend the manufacturer specific ingredients that created these fabulous products. I started this process by eliminating sodium chloride which is table salt and used as a cheap thickener, making my products all naturally tear free, using high percentages of essential oils and customizing one of a kind fragrances. Not only would these products give something back to our pets for their unconditional love, but I had the perfect product names already picked out from problems I had seen in other dogs.

Imperial Cat is the wholesale division of Cat Claws, Inc., which was founded in 1986 by Bill and Gale Seliskar. What is the shelf life of your dog treats and how do they need to be stored?
Just like your local bakery, we bake your dog treats fresh for your order to give you the best quality gourmet dog treats upon arrival. Our dog treats do not need to be refrigerated. However please take care not to leave treats decorated with carob or yogurt in high temperature conditions.
For general storage, a good "rule of thumb" is to store our dog treats how you would normally store your fresh baked cookies from your kitchen. Shelf life for most of our dog biscuit type bakery treats is 6-8 weeks and for softer dog treats such as doggie birthday cakes, dog cupcakes, dog brownies or canoli is 3 weeks. We do not recommending storing treats in the refrigerator. However, you can freeze nicely to extend the shelf life for several months - but we guarantee they won't be around that long!
Do you use preservatives in your dog treats and are the ingredients safe for dogs?
All of our dog treats are baked fresh in our dog bakery using wholesome ingredients with no added preservatives, additives, sugar or salt. We use the finest quality baking ingredients, using only ingredients that are safe for your pet including treat decorations made with carob or yogurt (no chocolate is ever used). Will Feline Greenies® dental treats stain my carpets?
Feline Greenies® dental treats do not contain any artificial dyes or colors that would permanently stain your carpet. The green color could transfer to your carpet if your cat were to vomit on the carpet and it wasn’t cleaned up within 10-15 minutes. A typical stain remover such as Resolve® could be used to lift the stain from the carpet. However, we recommend that you feed the treats to your cat in his/her food bowl if you are concerned about getting any crumbs on your carpet.
